December Challenge

As a group of believers we want to take a challenge in the way we touch our community this month. We would like as many as possible members to spend some time reaching out to our community in different ways. The first challenge is to get ideas of things to do and the next will be to actually go out and do something. Come on…… Let’s touch our wonderful area. The challenge is simply……….. go into the community touch someones or a group of peoples lives. To keep track of it write a short testimony (Write it in as a comment below this blog or email it to me (bernard@blazeteam.co.za) or hand it in at the church in the proper box. Our goal is to see 15 people that actually do something to touch at least two peoples lives. Pray for people in hospitals, feed the needy, give the gospel, whatever the Holy Spirit leads you to do. Join us and let’s exceed our goal! Send it from wherever you are.

My first outreach to our community was organized by Evander Cell and I. 15 December 2009 Evander Cell set out in Evander to hand out coffee and hotdogs to all the people working at the petrol stations.

Philadelphia, Bertus, Dawie, Marlene and I got together at 17:30 and started making hotdogs and filling the flasks with black coffee. Just as we were about to leave one of the flasks insides fell out and we had coffee and glass all over.

First we went to BP then Total and there after we went to Engine. It was amazing to see the smiles on the people’s faces when we gave them the coffee and hotdogs. But the smiles they had when we told them Jesus loves them and handed them the cards with a special verse in the bible was the cherry on the cake. I really and truly had tones of fun. It would be great to be able to do any thing for other people I really just would like to see people happy and smiling.

My second outreach to the community Bertus, Dawie, Marlene and I got the children from a ‘Janelle kinder huis’ and spoiled them to a day of fun at the ‘eendjiedam’. There were two girls 10 years and 2 years they are sisters. We had a picnic basket full of snacks and drinks. We played games and just spent time with them. I really think they enjoyed having fun with us. I really have a soft spot for children and it’s sad to know they don’t have parents that look after them as they should be looked after. This out reach really touched my heart and make me relize that there are lots of people in our community that need us.

Spent some time with a sangoma-in-training today. Interesting half-an-hour! She was very forthcoming about how she experiences her training, her gifts and her future plans. She was also very open and honest about the fact that she is not a Christian. This saddened me but also excited me, because she opened the door for future discussions …

I will be praying for her and I will definitely visit her again.
